I don't know why this is happening. Did part 1 with a different approach submitted and couldn't get it to work for part 2. So tried a new approach and this is what I came up with, but still not getting the desired output.

2021.12.07 12:26 Ashikaru Winter Camping / Sleeping Bag Advice: Marmot Lithium 0° - Cold Legs

I picked up a Marmot Lithium 0° bag late this summer in hopes of getting into some winter backpacking. Since it's been ~10 years since the last time I've gone winter camping I've used the bag for about 8-10 nights on car camping trips to dial in my sleep system.
So far I've used the bag in temps ranging from 20-40° F and have found my legs getting cold in the early morning hours, especially on the nights where it gets down to 20°F. I'm going to bed in a dry set of wool 250 weight base layer along with fresh, dry socks and my MH puffy stuffed into the bottom of the bag to take up the dead space around my feet. I've noticed that most of the cold I'm feeling is coming from the zipper cover in the bag which is leaving a noticeably colder spot in the bag.
I don't think my sleeping pad is causing any issues as I've been sleeping on a Thermarest foam pad (R2.0) plus a Sea to Summit Ether Light XT (R3.2), but I do plan on picking up a Thermarest XTherm before my first backpacking trip. I've also made sure to fluff my bag prior to use each night and allow it to dry out in the sun each day (and at home between trips).
I'm a bit lost as what to do to stay warm. My thought is to maybe add a beefier down flap over the zipper section on the bag? I'd love to hear more suggestions though on how you all keep warm while winter backpacking!

2021.12.07 12:26 devilmaykri98 Santa's drip is immaculate, and I hate that it doesn't get enough praise.

Let's look at the facts... Santa's an old man with a long, white and well kept beard. Usually for someone of his liking, you see them rocking blue jeans, a flannel they've had for decades and a trucker hat. Santa could've gone the same route. But no. This man comes out every year with the red broadcloth and white fur.

2021.12.07 12:26 BetterEachDay24 Turning Down a Shaft DIY? Am I crazy?

I am curious as to whether I am delusional about a plan of mine and wanted to consult yall.
(Important background: I am somewhat skilled in carpentry and have renovated an entire house solo prior to this). I recently shot a few racks with a 11.8mm custom CF shaft from a local cue builder with a hard tip and LOVED it. However, I really don't have 300 bucks to be throwing down on only a shaft even though I really love supporting the sport (I do patronize his business as often as I can). I would also consider the JFlowers CF $300 deal but it isn't offered in a smaller diameter.
I want to get one of those Sharpshooter "Lathes" where you use a cordless drill as the motor and use it to turn down my shaft with a fitted 5/16 x 18 arbor instead of that "universal" junk. My cue is a Pure X HXTC9 that comes standard with a pro taper and 12.75mm tip that I have had for about a year now. There is also a Skinny version of the same shaft available, but $180 sounds steep for the same thing slightly smaller. This tip is at 11.75mm. I would assume that these are basically the same manufacturing process with a turn down at the end, which would mean the same diameter of LD material within the shaft.
Could I use the "lathe" to turn down my cue and extend the taper using some heavy grit sandpaper without running into issues? I understand I would have to step down to smaller grits to make it smooth again. I like the idea that I could do it in 2 stages (12.5 and then 12.25) and I only plan to go down to about 12.25 because that it the lowest turndown that Ozone offers. I think a staged approach would also be nice in case it feels like the "whippiness" is noticeably more after going down a quarter mm.
Roast me and tell me all the things that could go wrong please and how I should go about it. I am forseeing:
-Issues with it being slightly imperfect roundedness (I can deal with this and readjust it later)
-Thinning out the ferrule too much to where it might break (Problematic, but if this happens could a professional repair it?)
-Moisture somehow warping the cue afterwards (How do i prevent this? Do i need to have it hang in a certain position in dry conditions for a length of time and seal it afterwards? What do i use to reseal it? Do i have to reseal it?)
-Diameter of LD foam is too high and I bust the shaft open (This would majorly suck)
IF you are just vehemently against me doing something like this, what would you say is reasonable to pay a pro for turning it down half a mm and retipping?
Thanks for reading and helping me make an informed decision about this! I appreciate the wealth of knowledge yall put on this subreddit! Even if I have to scroll though 40 "what cue/table is this and is it worth it?" posts :)

2021.12.07 12:26 f-ben Is there a game that had impact on your life?

For me it was the original Half-Life. Not because of the graphics or story but because it got me into modding games. That lead to programming which I now do for a living. I really dont know if I would have started programming without half life so this game basically shaped half of my life (pun intended).

2021.12.07 12:26 LilaPluto My School is Doing a Dramatic Musical Countdown and I Want Your Opinions.

We are doing a 12 day countdown to decide what the spring musical will be for next year. Every day one of these is taken off the list. Tomorrow, we are having a drama club meeting where you can sing a song from one of the musicals to try to influence the decision. I don’t know what to sing because I am in love with so many of them.
Here is the list: (The thing in parenthesis is what I would audition for probably)
Annie (Annie, Molly)
Footloose (I have no clue yet)
Guys and Dolls (I don’t know yet)
Into the Woods (Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Baker’s Wife, Rapunzel)
The Little Mermaid (Ariel, Sister)
Luann (idk what this is)
The Music Man (No audition plan)
Edwin Drood (Don’t know the characters)
Newsies (Katherine, Newsie)
Oliver (idk yet)
The Sponge Bob Musical (Karen)
Sadly, Mama Mia was eliminated this morning.
I am a freshman here so I don’t really expect to get what I want but I do have a lot of theater experience. What musical(s) should I try to make happen and what should I sing for them.
Here is a bit about me if it helps: I’m blonde and have blue eyes and pretty short but not too short. I am typically a belter but I have a strong head voice that I am very comfortable with. My choir teacher says I’m an alto my voice teacher says I’m a soprano.

2021.12.07 12:26 plop_dumps A short story about a person who is able to inhabit other people’s bodies

Imagine that one day you meet a magician who teaches you a magic spell. She tells you to think about a specific person and to visualize inhabiting their body the next morning and say the spell. With your interest peaked, you try it as soon as you get home. You think of a random person you saw at the grocery store earlier that day, and you recite the spell: “I am not myself. I am the person from the grocery store earlier today wearing the grey button down shirt and the nice watch. I will be that person for a day.” All of a sudden, you find yourself waking up in the person’s body in an unfamiliar bedroom. You see what the they see. You feel what they feel. You even hear their thoughts. But, the strange thing is that you can’t control the body. The person’s brain is so used to thinking the same thought patterns for so many years that it can’t be controlled by your presence. You are reduced to an observational presence in this other person’s life; you’re simply along for the ride. So, you and the person go about their day and think their regular thoughts. At night, you and the person go to bed and fall sleep. All of a sudden, you are back in your own body. You’re amazed that the spell worked. You learned so much from your experience as the other person, so you try it again. This time, you inhabit a wolf in the Alaskan wilderness. You become addicted to learning new things about all of the people and animals you become. You continue to use the spell and inhabit the bodies of many different creatures. You even find that it even works on trees, rocks, planets - anything! You also find that you can modify the spell to inhabit other things for not just a day, but any length of time. One day you use the spell to inhabit a newborn baby. You find that life as the baby is absolutely incredible. Colors are brighter. Sounds move you. Everything you see, hear, feel, smell, and taste is much more exciting and intriguing than in your actual life. Instead of using your brain to immediately categorize the experience at hand and straying into thoughts departing from the here and now, you are able to enjoy everything as if for the first time. Every day life is an absolute thrill. You are so amazed at life as the baby that you use the spell to inhabit the baby a agin - this time for an entire year. After several months as the baby, you start to lose touch with your original self that you’ve associated with your whole life. You even start to forget who you really are. After the year as the baby, you come back to your original body. But you aren’t the same anymore. You have gaining insight into so many different things and creatures. You take a break from using the spell to do some much needed thinking. You have a nagging thought that you just can’t shake: If it’s possible to inhabit others and forget who you really are, then how do I know that I’m not some other person who has inhabited this body for my entire life? Who am I originally?
The story doesn’t have an ending. Does the main character shake it off and ignore that voice in their head? Or do they embrace their nature as the one thing that incarnates all and live the rest of their life with a renewed spark as they did as an infant? The ending is up to you.
